Topic: Video Conference: My ‘Aspie’ is such a robot!
When: Tuesday, April 4th at 4 pm Pacific Time
I have heard so many NeuroTypicals describe their ASD loved one as a “Robot.” Why is that? It’s so common that we really should take a look at the underlying dynamic.
First, the NeuroDiverse people are Empathy Triad Blind. This means that they don’t use Empathy or Context to create conversations.
Second, without Empathy, they rely on transactional communication. “It’s the facts, just the facts, only the facts ma’am.” Furthermore, those facts are stored as pictures and categories, not nuanced emotions.
Third, instead of responding to the NeuroTypical’s bid for connection, they wait for a question or a couple of words that make sense to them. They respond to the words, not the person.
Of course, your NeuroDiverse loved ones are not devoid of emotions. They care just as deeply as anyone else. But conveying their hearts is tough for them when they are Empathy Triad Blind, transactional, and think in pictures.
Let’s use this conference to examine how the world of ‘thinking transactionally and in pictures affects the hearts of NeuroDivergent couples.
